Social and Support Groups

Compass safe, state-of-the-arts facility in the heart of downtown Lake Worth is home to more than 20 professional and peer-led therapeutic, support, social, discussion and health related groups.

More than 250 individuals participate in the weekly organizational meetings, which include Palm Beach County Human Rights Council, Positive Living Support Group, and Parents, Family and Friends of Lesbians and Gays (PFLAG).

Q Chat

Can’t get to Compass in person? Join conversations on Q Chat Space

Like Compass’ youth groups, Q Chat Space online discussion groups give you a dedicated space to meet other youth and discuss topics relevant to your identities and experiences - it’s just online! It is not a forum. It is live and chat-based; there is no video or audio. Everyone is chatting during the same pre-scheduled time. Facilitators are people who work at LGBTQ centers across the US.

Youth Groups

Compass currently has both a Youth Group and Transgender Youth Group which meet on a regular basis. 

The Compass Youth Group is for LGBTQ teens and allies ages 12-18.

The Transgender Youth Group is for transgender identifying individuals between the ages of 12 - 18.

The Youth Group meets every  Wednesday and Friday from 5pm-7pm.

The Transgender Youth Group meets every Friday from 5pm - 7pm.

The Authentically YOUth Suppot Group for Transgender Children and their families. Meets the second Saturday of each month from 10:00am - 11:30am.

Entourage

Compass Entourage is a community for anyone who identifies as LGBTQ (ages 18-29) who want to have fun, socialize, form relationships, and build a stronger community in which to work, live, and play. Entourage has events and groups every month. Come and join us at any of our regular meetings and be part of the group.

Entourage meets every Thursday from 6 pm – 8 pm at the Center.

A subset of Entourage is Sex Talks & Empowerment All for Men (STEAM). STEAM is a social group that gives young gay, bisexual & questioning men (ages 18 to 29) an opportunity to talk about sex and empower each other to make the right decisions.

The Bereavement/Loss Therapy Group


The Compass Bereavement/Loss Therapy Group is for anyone experiencing loss and seeking help with their grief. 

This group is led by licensed grief counselors and will meet at Compass Community Center. 

New meetings will start in January 2019.

Coffee Clatch

Coffee Clatch at Compass is a social group focusing on the mature LGBT+ community in Palm Beach County, with the intent of providing an enjoyable environment for meeting friends, discussing interesting topics, and engaging in community projects.

Young Adult Transgender and Non-Binary Support/Social Group

Ages 18-29

Meets 1st and 3rd Friday each month 6-7 p.m.

The Young Adult Trans & Non-Binary group meets to discuss a variety of topics including healthy relationships, legal issues, sex education, gender identity, job readiness, and family. The group provides a safe and confidential space to connect, grow, and gain peer support.

PBC Gender Support Group

All ages support group dedicated for transgender individuals and their supportive family members. Meets every Thursday at 7 pm.

Coming Out

A support group for people of all ages who are seeking or offering help with the coming out process. Meets every Thursday at 6:30 pm.



Positive Connection

Group for and about HIV+ Men. Meets every Tuesday at 6:30pm-8:00pm. An opportunity for men to get together, learn and support each other. Mutual help, educational and community advocacy. Group solely for those diagnosed with HIV.  Closed group, please call 561-533-9699 ext 4003.

Positively Dynamite!

Group for and about HIV+ women, gives an opportunity for women to get together, learn and support each other. Group solely for those diagnosed with HIV.  Meets the last Monday of the month at 6pm. Closed group, please call 561-533-9699 ext 4055.



Libertad

FTM Gender Support Group

This social and support group focuses on the needs of the FTM (Female to Male) Transgender community. Meets every 1st and 3rd Monday of the month at 7pm.



Good Orderly AA

This support group is dedicated for individuals who are recovering from alcoholism. Meets every Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7 pm at Lambda North Clubhouse. Lambda is located 2 blocks southeast of Compass at 18 South J Street, Lake Worth, FL 33460.

Non-Binary Support Group

This support group is designed to provide a place for those who identify as non-binary or gender nonconforming. Meets every Wednesday from 6:30 pm - 8 pm.



The Compass Youth Program

For more than 25 years, Compass has provided a safe space for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer/questioning (LGBTQ) youth in Palm Beach County. At Compass, LGBTQ youth and their allies engage in social support, community service, arts & cultural activities, educational, and leadership opportunities.

We strive to ensure all youth in Palm Beach County are safe from discrimination and harassment, regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, and/or gender expression. More than 1,000 youth and their families have accessed services through our Youth program since its inception, making it one of the longest running and largest LGBTQ youth programs in the southeast United States.


The Drop In Center

Compass’ Youth Drop-In Center is for LGBTQ youth and their allies (ages 12-18).

It’s a safe space to hang out, use computers, talk about the issues that matter to you, engage with mentors and connect with your community.

Drop in hours: Monday - Friday 3pm to 7pm

Compass Mentor Program

Compass’ Mentoring Program offers a number of benefits to our youth. Mentors provide guidance and tutelage to help our youth rise to their full potential. 

Youth, and their mentors, participate in tutoring, field trips, youth group activities, and emotional and social support.  Adult mentors commit their donated time for a 12 month commitment with a 4 hour/month minimum to ensure stability within the program. The Mentoring Program is made possible through generous support from the United Way of Palm Beach County, Inc.


The All Tea, No Shade Therapy Group

The All Tea, No Shade Therapy Group is a group for those youth who could benefit from talking to their peers in a facilitated setting led by licensed therapists.

The group meets in 8 week cycles. Individual, short term therapy is also available.

Authentically YOUth

The Authentically YOUth support group is geared to transgender identifying children ages 3-11 and their families.

The group meets the first Saturday of each month from 10:00am - 11:30am at Compass Community Center.
